ANZAC Day Learning
After ANZAC day, school commenced for Term 2 and room 19 took this opportunity to really deepen our understanding about ANZAC day and why we commemorate this historical event in Aotearoa. We began by listening to audio recordings that were recorded from World War 1 and 2. As we closed our eyes and imagined ourselves in this setting, many students talked about how they felt terrified and frightened, however some said they felt brave and courageous because they wanted to fight for our country. After this activity we wrote letters pretending that we were soldiers going to war to fight for our country. We wrote letters to our families back home. We would like to share Shyla-Flynn Upoko-Rudolph and Jahziah Witehiraโs letter. We hope you feel the emotion that we felt learning about ANZAC day and the sacrifice that was offered by these strong men. Lest we forget
The Weymouth Way – Manaiakalani Film Festival 2022
Kia ora koutou,
We hope that you enjoy our film, all about our school’s value system – The Weymouth Way. We do our best to remember it in all that we do. We are a new school to the Te Purapura Ngฤtahi o Manaiakalani cluster this year, and were invited to participate in the Manaiakalani Film Festival for the first time. We worked with two of the other Rooms from our Year 5 team to create this film, under the guidance of Mr Ferguson, who works in our classes teaching us how to be Cybersmart learners.
We had a lot of fun making this film, and hope that you enjoy watching it!

Google Drawing – Fish
Room 19 had so much fun creating and drawing fishes using Google drawing. First we watched the video by Mr Goodwin explaining the instructions then we got straight into it. Most of our students decided to add other things around their drawings including seaweed, bubbles, water, sharks, and even octopus.
We had so much fun exploring the different tools such as using the different shapes, filling the colour, removing the border and grouping the shapes together. Enjoy looking at our creations
Screenshots in Room 19
Hello
Today during Cybersmart we have been learning about screenshots. We watched a video of Mrs Grant explaining what to do and how to take a screenshot we then had to make a copy of a Google Drawing. We then had to take a screenshot of our school site, class site and our class blog. We did this by pressing ctrl + shift + show windows, we then had to insert them into our Google Drawing and insert a text box to say what each screenshot was finally we had to insert a word art of our name and changed the font and colour to make it how we wanted it to look. We had to download the image and insert it into a folder on our class site. Here are some examples of our work
Cybersmart in Room 19
Kia ora everyone!
This week for Cybersmart we have been learning about how we can organise our Google Drives and keep them tidy.
We went to our Class Site, opened the link that Mr Ferguson gave us and made a copy of a set of Slides so that we could complete the task. In the task, we had to help John organise his Google Drive by putting the right files into the right folders.
We then had to have a go at organising our own My Drive folder too.
Here are some photos that Mr Ferguson took of us working hard in this session.
We hop you enjoy reading our future blog posts!
Making Frenchtoast
On Friday we made French toast with Whaea Mosman. First we got all our utensils ready and cracked 12 eggs in a bowl, then we added milk, pepper and salt. We all stirred this mixture together and then added one slice of bread into the wet mixture. Whaea Mosman helped us to add our slice of bread covered in the mixture into the pan. Once it was ready and cooked we ate it. It was tasty and delicious.
